AtkinsRéalis have supported the academy running 4 STEM workshops focusing on the students’ design thinking skills. The students were set a task in teams to identify what transport needs would be required if a colony was established on the Moon. The students needed to consider the requirements of the transport infrastructure which include but was not limited to the fact that radiation exposure is as much higher on the Moon than Earth as well as the Moon having extreme temperature differences from day to night and how this would impact upon their design solution. The students then presented their designs back to the AtkinsRéalis engineers who interrogated each of their proposals. A Huge thank you to Chloe Copeland, Phoebe McHugh, James Millsopp and Raja Khan for facilitating the STEM workshops.
