WMG academy embraces the use of new technology by learners particularly in terms of allowing them to bring with personal devices to enhance and develop their learning sessions. However, these devices are subject to an acceptable usage agreement and safeguarding protocol and are used under the explicit direction of the Teacher.
Whilst we recognise the benefit mobile phones, in particular smart phones, can have in enabling communication and productivity, we have concluded that to best support each child’s education, unless directed by a teacher for a specifically agreed activity, mobile phones should not be used, seen or heard in lessons.
For each child to make the best possible progress, we believe that students need the freedom to focus on the work set without distraction, and that being able to work without the interruption of technology best suits this purpose.
Students are welcome to listen to music on their personal devices during break and lunch time. No headphones are permitted in lessons and should not be worn between lessons.
