Viranchi was a very special student of WMG Academy, whose life was cruelly cut short in February 2024, at the age of 20. He is remembered by students and staff alike, as a cheerful, happy-go-lucky young man with a passion for both engineering and cricket.
Viranchi started with us in Year 10 and his positive attitude was clear to see from every angle. He was exceptionally curious and had a real passion for engineering, which would ultimately lead him to successfully achieve the BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering at Sixth Form. He was later to use this interest to help others realise their interest in the Aerospace sector.
Viranchi was always cheerful and had infectious enthusiasm. He thrived on personal challenge, whether building the next Lego kit or scaling the next mountain; everything was possible.
Many people remember him with a cricket bat in his bag. He was one of the only students who regularly played the sport and would often share stories of his batting average at the weekend, as he competed for Bablake Cricket Club. It was a sport in which he never represented our school, but one which was very close to his heart.
He could always solve problems, including ways in which he could circumnavigate the mobile phone rule in lessons, which would allow him to keep an eye on the cricket scores. Ever curious, he made his friends laugh and his family proud of his achievements. His mum (Aparna) volunteered at the school as a science specialist, such was the family’s interest in STEM.
Viranchi was taken from us too early. He has left a gap at our academy, but his spirit of innovation and collaboration will always live on.
