A unique timetable
The school day at the WMG Academy is slightly longer than the traditional school day – allowing time for individual learning, catch up sessions, mentoring and enrichment activities alongside the commissions (projects). The Academy caters for learners to be on site from 07.30 until 18.30. The core hours, when all learners will be expected to be on site, will be from 08.30 to 16.30. Learners will be expected to take part in a minimum of four hours activity in enrichment time across the week, each students’ programme will be planned with their tutor and parents.
All learnerswill have an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) providing them with a personal curriculum pathway that enables them to access learning in ways that best suit each learner and with appropriate support.
The ethos of the Academy is business-like and draws on business practice For example, we have developed a performance framework for learners and staff that will assess and monitor the development of employability and life skills such as team-working, leadership and problem-solving. We have based the performance framework on employers’ models.
Not an easy option
All our learners can expect a challenging and exciting curriculum that helps them to grow and develop their skills and progress into higher or further education or the world of work.
