WMG Academy Coventry Celebrates Outstanding Student Success
We are celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE results for all students in Year 11.
WMG Academy Chief Executive, Stewart Tait, commented, “We are delighted that we are once again seeing great achievement across the ability range of students at WMG Academy Coventry with some fantastic individual stand out performances. I know that our students will go on to a wide range of exciting destinations and careers with their impressive learning and business behaviours standing them in good stead. I personally congratulate the students and thank parents and carers for their patience and support as well as the staff for their unwavering commitment and dedication.”
Further highlights of this year’s fantastic student achievements include:
- Kristelle secured 9 GCSEs of Grade 7 or above, including Distinction* in both Engineering Design and Manufacturing and a Grade 9 in English Language
- Aarush gained a Distinction* in Engineering Manufacturing along with three Grade 9s in Computer Science, Maths and Chemistry
- Janushan gained 5 Grade 8s across a variety of STEM subjects, including Business, Computer Science, Maths, Chemistry and English Language
- Tioluwanimi had success English Literature and Language alongside Grade 8s in Maths, Chemistry and Physics
- Amelia achieved Distinction* and Distinction in Engineering Design and Manufacturing
In addition to amazing individual student achievements, WMG Coventry is extremely proud to report that the following key measures have continued to show an upward trend:
- The Year 11 cohort made more than expected progress demonstrating the additional value we have added to their academic journey
- The number of students achieving a Grade 4 or above in English and Maths has significantly improved underscoring our inclusive approach
- Over 75% of students taking separate sciences secured the higher grades between 5 and 9
- 100% of students gained a qualification linked to our Engineering specialism
- More than triple the national average of students from this cohort have successfully enrolled on prestigious Level 3 Apprenticeships including those joining JLR, Aston Martin and Siemens.

In particular, well done to the female students mentioned above, it is fantastic to see all of their successes following the hard work they have put into their studies, fully supporting the national drive to encourage a greater number of females into STEM subjects.
Associate Principal, Fiesal Mahroof said, “We are extremely proud of all our students! Our Year 11 students have shown a great level of determination and drive to have achieved some fantastic GCSE results.
All of our students’ accomplishments are valued enormously, especially by the staff at the academy, who have equally worked tirelessly to support, guide and inspire our students to achieve their very best.
WMG Academy for Young Engineers is proud to be partnered with a large number of national and international employer partners who work with students to develop their employability skills, which is evident in the fantastic destinations and for those who have secured a place at our 6th form.”
WMG Academy for Young Engineers provides GCSE, A-level and BTEC education for 14 to 19-year-olds. It opened in 2014 and specialises in science, technology, engineering and maths. The Academy is proud to offer learners between the ages of 14 and 19 a unique educational pathway, blending vocational learning, employability skills, academic teaching, business partners and technical expertise to create the engineers, computer scientists and scientists of the future.
