We are celebrating another year of outstanding outcomes and destinations for students in Year 13.
WMG Academy Chief Executive, Stewart Tait, commented, “I am so pleased that students at the WMG Academies have had their commitment and endeavours rewarded with impressive examination results that will allow them to progress to the next stage of their journey, be that University, Apprenticeships or direct employment. This year at WMG Coventry academy, it has been another exceptional year for our Engineering specialism with 90% of students who followed the popular large 3 A Level equivalent Engineering qualification, achieving a triple Distinction or Distinction*! Once again, there is a very impressive range of destinations that have been secured by Year 13 students that they and their teachers and parents should be rightly proud of.”
Further highlights of this year’s fantastic student results and destinations include:
- 94% of the whole cohort, in all qualifications achieved grades between A* and C and / or Distinction* and Merit
- Approximately a third of students secured the top grades (A*, A, Distinction*, Distinction)
- 5% above national average in A Level AAB gradings
- We continue to have inclusivity at our heart – over 80% of students who arrived at WMG with a GCSE average point score below a grade 4 secured Level 3 qualifications equivalent to a grade C/Merit or above
- 95% of students studying our Engineering specialist subjects have secured outstanding results in all Level 3 qualifications, these include:
- 97% Distinction* to Merit in Cambridge Technical Engineering and BTEC in Engineering
- 100% pass rate in Engineering T-Level
- 90% of BTEC Triple Science students achieved D*D*D* to DDD (100% D*D*D* to DDM)
- 96% of students were awarded Merit or above in Cambridge Technical in Business.
(NB: D and D* grades refer to Distinction and Distinction* grades available on Engineering and Science BTEC qualifications. D* is equivalent to A* and D is equivalent to A.)
Highest Achievers
Dolapo and Peter were our highest achieving students achieving Distinction*, A*, A and A in Engineering, Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science and D*DD BTEC Science.
- 5 students achieved the highest possible grade, Distinction, in T-Level Engineering; these students are: Avelino, Oliver, Ethan, Noah and Jack
- The following students secured some of the highest possible grades in all their subjects:
- Kevin: double Distinction in BTEC Science and a Distinction in Business Studies
- Yanis: Distinction* in Engineering, Grade A in A Level Maths and a grade B in Physics
- Arush: Distinction* in Engineering, Grade B in A Level Physics and a grade B in Maths.
Destinations Highlights
- Lily studied BTEC Engineering and Product Design and is heading to Warwick University to study Design for Sustainable Innovation
- Dolapo studied Computer Science, Engineering, Maths and Further Maths A Levels and is heading to the University of Warwick to Study Computer Science
- Shaaf studied BTEC Applied Science and is heading to Nottingham Trent University to study Law
- Patryk studied Computer Science, Electronics, Engineering and is heading to the University of Staffordshire to study Aeronautical Engineering
- Amelia studied Biology, Chemistry and Product Design and will start a Degree Apprenticeship in Product Design with Ishida
- Asili, studied T-Level in Engineering and will start a Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering with Coventry City Council.

“Thanks to our close work with industry partners, our students graduate equipped with the practical skills needed to thrive. These fantastic destinations are a testament to their hard work and our academy’s industry-led approach.”
WMG Academy for Young Engineers provides education for 13 to 19 year olds and boasts a wide offer of qualifications such as GCSE, A-Level and vocational qualifications T-Levels, BTECs, Cambridge Technicals and AAQs. It opened in 2014 and specialises in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
The Academy is proud to offer, with the support of its business partners, a unique educational pathway for learners that blends vocational learning, employability skills, academic teaching and technical expertise to create the STEM employees of the future. Starting in September 2026, both WMG Academies (Coventry and Solihull) will introduce Year 9 admissions for the first time, offering students an earlier opportunity to engage with our industry-led STEM curriculum and employer-driven learning programmes.
