WMG Academy Coventry is joint top in Coventry for student destinations, according to new data published by the Government this week.
The academy is also ranked joint 5th out of 24 state-funded schools based on GCSE grades.
This year saw the academy’s best ever GCSE results while also being identified as one of only three schools with a 98% success rate in securing education or employment for school leavers.
Some 46% of students achieved grade 5 or above in five or more GCSEs, including English and maths, placing the academy joint 5th in the performance tables, and well ahead of the national average of 39.9%.
The academy also achieved a 74.5% success rate in grades 4 and above and C and above, compared with a national average of 69%.
WMG Academy is currently rate rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, with inspectors commenting that “Pupils are well prepared for their next stages in education and for life in modern Britain.”
In August, Sky News broadcast live from WMG Academy on results day morning. Several students achieved a string of 7, 8 and 9 grades (the highest possible grades).
Principal Mr Brady said: “This is fantastic news for our academy. Our students and staff work incredibly hard as a team to ensure our students reach their potential, not only in terms of exam results, but also in their careers.
“We are very proud to be among the best in Coventry, especially considering we opened just four years ago.”
