WMG Academy Coventry Celebrates Outstanding Student Success
We are celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE results for all students in Year 11.
WMG Academy Chief Executive, Stewart Tait, commented, “We are delighted that we are once again seeing significant achievement across the ability range of students at WMG Academy Coventry with some fantastic individual stand out performances. I know that many of our students will continue their journey with us whilst others will go on to a wide range of other pathways with their impressive learning and business behaviours standing them in good stead. I personally congratulate the students and thank parents and carers for their patience and support as well as the staff for their unwavering commitment and dedication.”
Further highlights of this year’s fantastic student achievements include:
- Mofiyinfoluwa secured 8 GCSEs of Grade 8 or above, including Distinction* in both Engineering Design and Manufacturing and Grade 9 in English Literature, Chemistry and Art
- Jacob gained a Distinction* in Engineering Manufacturing along with four Grade 9s in Computer Science, Maths, Physics and Chemistry
- Declan gained 5 Grade 9s across a variety of STEM subjects: Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English Language
- Lochlann had Grade 9 success in Electronics, Maths, Computer Science, English Language and Distinction* in Engineering Manufacture
In addition to amazing individual student achievements, WMG Coventry is extremely proud to report that the following key measures have continued to show an upward trend:
- The number of students achieving a Grade 5 or above in English and Maths has continued to improve across all groups of students, underscoring our inclusive approach
- Art, Computer Science and Electronics saw a significant increase (average of 29%) in securing the top grades
- 96% of students taking Physics GCSE secured a grade 5 or above, with 48% achieving between grades 9 and 7
- Every student has secured a place at a sixth form, college, apprenticeship which means that we have 0% NEET.
ND* Note: Distinction* is equivalent to A* and Distinction is equivalent to A.
Associate Principal, Adele Wallis said, “We are extremely proud of all our students! Our Year 11 students have shown a great level of determination and drive to have achieved some fantastic GCSE results.
All of our students’ accomplishments are valued enormously, especially by the staff at the academy, who have equally worked tirelessly to support, guide and inspire our students to achieve their very best.
WMG Academy for Young Engineers is proud to be partnered with a large number of national and international employer partners who work with students to develop their employability skills, which is evident in the fantastic destinations and for those who have secured a place at our 6th form.”
WMG Academy for Young Engineers provides GCSE, A-level and BTEC education for 13 to 19 year olds. It opened in 2014 and specialises in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. The Academy is proud to offer learners between the ages of 13 and 19 a unique educational pathway, blending vocational learning, employability skills, academic teaching, business partners and technical expertise to create the engineers, computer scientists and scientists of the future. Starting in September 2026, WMG Academies (Coventry and Solihull) will introduce Year 9 admissions for the first time, offering students an earlier opportunity to engage with our industry-led STEM curriculum and employer-driven learning programmes.
