Year 9

The Year 9 curriculum will be structured as follows:

• The Core Subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Engineering Manufacture and RSHE, which will be delivered consistently throughout the academic year
• Thematic Blocks: Enterprise, Digital, and Design, taught in focused six-week modules

The curriculum will encompass the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum requirements and competencies but also integrate opportunities for employer engagement, a key feature of the UTC approach. The thematic elements allow for a more creative and interdisciplinary approach, incorporating:

• A clearly defined brief
• Core components
• Technical competencies
• Employer engagement activities
• Embedded assessment, literacy, and numeracy opportunities
