WMG ACADEMY COVENTRY is celebrating an exceptional year of Sixth Form results, with students securing outstanding destinations across science, technology, engineering, design and mathematics – from leading universities to sought-after degree and higher apprenticeships.
The destinations follow another outstanding year for the industry-led specialist University Technical College, where 94% of the entire Year 13 cohort achieved A*–C or equivalent grades, and around a third of students secured the very highest grades of A*, A, Distinction* or Distinction.
Results were particularly impressive across the Academy’s technical specialisms. 97% of students taking Cambridge Technical or BTEC Engineering achieved Distinction*–Merit, while T Level Engineering achieved a 100% pass rate. An impressive 90% of BTEC Triple Science students achieved D*D*D*–DDD and 96% of Cambridge Technical Business students secured a Merit or above.
But at WMG Academy Coventry, Results Day is about more than the grades students collect – it is about where those qualifications can take them next.
This year’s graduates are progressing into an extraordinary range of STEM-related degrees, apprenticeships and careers. Lily-Mae Porter, who achieved D*D in BTEC Engineering alongside a B in Product Design, is heading to the University of Warwick to study Design for Sustainable Innovation. Krish Mittal achieved a Distinction* in Engineering, an A in Maths and an A* in his Extended Project Qualification and will study Architectural Engineering at Loughborough University.
Other students are progressing into Computer Science at Coventry University, Mechanical Engineering at Keele University, Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Staffordshire and Biomedical Science at Keele University.
For some students, the next step is directly into industry. Amelia, who studied Biology, Chemistry and Product Design, has secured a Degree Apprenticeship in Product Design with Ishida, while T Level Engineering student Asili will begin a Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering with Coventry City Council.
Together, the destinations demonstrate the breadth of opportunities available to young people through a curriculum that combines academic study with technical expertise, creativity, practical problem-solving and genuine exposure to industry.
WMG Academy Coventry works closely with employers and the University of Warwick to ensure that learning connects with the world beyond the classroom. Across WMG Academy Trust, more than 50 companies and organisations support its distinctive approach to employer-led education, including major names from engineering, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure and technology.
Students work on real, business-focused problems and challenges and develop the practical skills, professional behaviours and technical knowledge that universities and employers value.
Principal Adele Wallis said, “We couldn’t be prouder of our students’ dedication and maturity. Once again, WMG Academy graduates are stepping directly into high-calibre STEM degree programmes and securing sought-after Degree Apprenticeships with leading national and international companies, with over a quarter of the cohort securing the highest grades possible.
“Thanks to our close work with industry partners, our students graduate equipped with the practical skills needed to thrive. These fantastic destinations are a testament to their hard work and our Academy’s industry-led approach.”
The results come as technical education moves increasingly into the national spotlight. The Prime Minister recently announced plans to give young people greater access from age 14 to technical education, work experience and connections with employers, alongside their core academic studies.
For WMG Academy Coventry, that approach is already firmly established.
The Academy specialises in science, technology, engineering and maths while offering young people a broad range of academic, technical and vocational qualifications. Its model is designed around a simple principle: education should give young people not only great qualifications, but also the skills, experiences and connections that open doors to what comes next.
From September 2026, WMG Academy Coventry is also welcoming Year 9 students for the first time, allowing young people to access its industry-led STEM curriculum even earlier.
And for students receiving GCSE results this summer, it is not too late to join WMG Academy Coventry Sixth Form this September.
Limited places remain for September 2026 across the Academy’s academic, technical and vocational pathways. Students can apply now at:
