OVERVIEW OF THE COURSE
The Baker Award is a nationally recognised programme designed to prepare students for the world of work. It encourages them to develop essential employability skills while gaining real-life experience of the workplace. Through a wide range of activities and opportunities, students will build confidence, independence and resilience, while developing the knowledge and behaviours that employers value most. The award focuses on five key areas: workplace skills, employer engagement, work experience, personal development and community contribution. By completing the award, students will leave WMG Academy ready for the next stage of their education or career, with a portfolio of experiences to showcase to future employers or universities.
CONTENT AND ASSESSMENT
Students complete a range of activities throughout their time at WMG Academy to achieve the Baker Award. Each task builds a portfolio of evidence showing the skills, knowledge and experiences they have developed.
